Emily Caldon is deployed in the US military as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, working alongside an autonomous robot called DAWES. While overseas, Emily is shot and paralyzed. Home in America, a neuroscientist offers Emily the opportunity to gain control of a DAWES robot using a brain-computer interface, and she learns to use her new robotic body to redeem her past life, and enact revenge on the men who shot her.
